Version Number Not Updating

  • Hello,
    This morning, I updated to 2.2 from 2.1.3. I followed all the instructions, and ran the upgrade page. I received a message that my page was successfully updated.

    However, when I check the Dashboard, at the bottom of the page, it still says I am running 2.1.2.

    Is something wrong? Is there a better way to check which version is running?

    Can anyone help me with this? My blog software was updated, but it still displays the old version number.

    Do I need to uninstall the whole thing and start again?

    This is the information that appears in the wp-includes/version.php file:

    $wp_version = '2.1.2';
$wp_db_version = 4773;

    So…
    My page displays 2.1.3
    The version.php file says 2.1.2
    And I downloaded 2.2

    This is very confusing! Can someone help me figure out what it means?

    which wp-includes/version.php did you check? The one on your computer or the one on your site?

    irrespective of that, if your site shows that version.. then you either uploaded the wrong files, or you didnt upload all of the files.

    So what you do is clear all of the wordpress files you’ve downloaded off your pc — or move them to someplace where you cannot be confused .. you download the zip again, unzip it, check THAT version.php, make sure its right, and follow the upgrade process..

    Thanks for the help! I checked the version.php file that is on my site.

    I think the problem might be that when I upgraded, I did not replace certain files because I customized them. For example, I made several tweaks to the styles.css file and I was trying to avoid having to do all those changes again!

    It sounds like I will have to re-do the changes to those files every time I upgrade, unless I’m missing something here.

    i have the same problem with 2.5.1
    i checked the “wp-includes/version.php”, and when i upgraded, i deleted all the old files except wp-content and then copied the new ones.
    do anybody know which function checks the version number?

    Down at the bottom of the page in Dashboard was 2.1.2. Do I have 2.2 or 2.1.3 ? What can I check to is if it’s 2.2 ?
