• Okay, another one of those basic problems:

1 – since 3.9 is turning into a bit of a nightmare because of loss of certain functions (and shifting to “learn css”), I don’t particularly want to update sites right now. If 3.8.3 is stable and secure, I would love to be able to say “stop bothering me about the update” so that the nag disappears from the top of every admin page.

2 – the 3.9 release has as a result created a wave of plug in updates as well, but I loath to apply them for fear that they use features of functions from 3.9 that my current version will not properly support. So again, I appeal for some sort of versioning so we can figure out what versions of a plug in work with a given version of wordpress. All that we current get is if it’s compatible with the current version, but not any indication if they work with past, stable versions of wordpress.

Basically, you need to allow us to get off the endless upgrade elevator where we want, and to be able to do it safely. Not everyone wants that bleeding edge stuff, and version 3.9 is a perfect example of an upgrade horror story for some site operators.
