    Hello,

Great addition with the vertical sharing–looks great and I think it is essential to have a vertical sharing bar.

While it works as it should, the placing of it makes it not functional.

I think you should make the positioning relative to the content, not to the screen size.

At 0px vertical positioning, it means that it is 0 from the edge of the left screen, whatever the size may be. If a website is responsive, this will most likely cause the sharing bar to be over text that readers should be able to read.

If you put -30px vertical, instead of moving -30px relative to the content, it becomes half hidden by tucking itself into the edge of the screen. This means it hides and people can barely touch the buttons.

This will happen on desktop screens too.

Let me know if I was able to explain myself.

    Thanks for the addition however!

    Jose

    Hey Jose,
    Thanks for the appreciation.
“Floating” bar means its position can no longer be determined relative to the content. Making this bar responsive is my first priority though, for next release.

Np. Check out a plugin called:

    AA’s Digg Digg Alternative

They do it right…even if it doesn’t show on mobile, they have it so you can space it relative to the content. I don’t mind if it doesn’t work on mobile, as long as it doesn’t block the content.

Many people on mobile have mobile standard ways of sharing anyway.

But that plugin makes it so that it will work on desktop, relative to the content box. Check it out…maybe it helps.

Okay, Jose, I will look into this plugin

Correction: the mentioned plugin uses the center of the page to help with positioning of the vertical bar.

“From Center of Page (pixels) – Higher number moves bar to the left lower number to the right.”

Because every website will have different content widths, this works once the user finds how many pixels to the left the bar should be.
