This is an epic disappointment. It completely broke my site. From snappy 1-2s to load a page it went to either a complete timeout on some elements, or about 1-2 minutes to load the page.

It also disabled the scrolling so seeing the loaded page was impossible.

I cannot believe something that like this was coded, and released. It is horrible how much damage this plugin would have caused to everyone that tried to make use of it.

    Hey @vmajor

Sorry to hear of these issues that have cropped up after activation. I was unable to replicate this issue in my testing, and I’d like to gather a few more details to investigate this further if you’re interested in diving deeper into this.

    – Could you provide the site’s WooCommerce System Status Report?
    – Are you seeing any specific errors in the site’s logging or in the built-in logging under MailChimp for WooCommerce Settings > Logs?
    – Does this issue persist when deactivating all other plugins except WooCommerce and MailChimp for WooCommerce?
    – Does this issue persist when switching to a different theme?

Thanks in advance for this information and for providing this feedback.
    – Malachite

Hey! a reply from MC…great. I would really love to get this plugin to work. One thing that you may use as a get out of jail ticket is that I use Ubuntu 14.04 so I am stuck with PHP 5.59.

    – how can I provide you with the status report? The main complaint is about the PHP version.

-The errors I saw were in the Apache log – something about hooks being deprecated so nothing indicating that you were calling on functions that did not exist in 5.59.

-The issue resolves as soon as I deactivate your plugin. Yours is the only one that breaks the site.

    – I am not switching to another theme, sorry. Other plugins work.

    V.

    Hey @vmajor

The System Status Report can be found within WooCommerce’s settings under WooCommmerce > Status. This piece from WooCommerce’s documentation goes into further detail on how to find this page: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/understanding-the-woocommerce-system-status-report/

While I can certainly understand the frustration with having to use an older version of PHP, I’m afraid that our plugin is based on the minimum requirements of WooCommerce’s system recommendations, which requires PHP 7 or greater.

While there could be other factors at play, we would require that the site meet all minimum requirements in order to function as expected. For reference, those minimum requirements can be found here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Hi Malachite,

I know how to find the report. I was asking how would you like me to share it. I am not going to copy and paste it in here.

Regarding the requirements, sure. Your plugin is still the only one that does not work out of…let me count… 33 plugins, including WP 4.8.3 that do work. Php logs on the server report no errors. The errors seem to be on the client side front end likely with javascript, or conflicts therewith. I should also add that your plugin crashes Edge, and makes Chrome unresponsive requiring a reboot.

    Hey @vmajor

I’m afraid that we only have the option to share things here in the forums. If you are interested in a different mode of communication, MailChimp’s Support Team offers email and chat support. You can read more about those options here: https://kb.mailchimp.com/accounts/management/mailchimp-support-options

I can definitely see where you’re coming from here. Unfortunately it’s not possible for us to troubleshoot further without ensuring that a site meets the minimum server requirements for the plugin. If upgrading the PHP on the site is not an option at this time, I can completely understand.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to let us know.
