Very bad spam

I really like the simplicity of Contact Form 7 and the ease of customizing forms, but I had to disable my forms because spam was really untenable, even with both math challenges and a honeypot (via https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/contact-form-7-honeypot/). Are there any other anti-spam strategies short of implementing Akismet or ReCAPTCHA (which I’m reluctant to do because of the privacy implication)?
