Very bad to render article:author for products!

    Hi Yoast!

    Why does Yoast SEO render meta article:author property for WooCommerce products?

    There is no possibility to change the author in a product, which makes this property very bad when the “wrong” person has added the product.

    When the product link is shared on Facebook, a link to the product author is displayed, which is not so nice if the author is an agency that shouldn’t have the publicity there.

    I found no way in Yoast SEO to get rid of this property, so I had to hack the core. Please fix it.

    We are unable to reproduce this issue using WordPress 4.6.1, Yoast SEO 3.6.1 on the Storefront 2.1.3 theme. I also tried some common themes like Genesis, Twenty Sixteen, Divi, Avada and Customizr. None of these themes showed an author when sharing on Facebook.

    Would you provide more information about your setup and what part of the code you modified to fix the issue.

    I deleted rows 128-147 in /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/frontend/class-opengraph.php

    Now I found that there is an easier way to get rid of the author tag. In my WordPress user profile, I had entered the field “URL to Facebook profile” (that is probably why you didn’t see it). When I deleted that from my profile, the author tag is not shown anymore.

    So try adding your Facebook URL to your WordPress user profile and you’ll see that the author tag is rendered.
