Very basic question on WordPress / Setting up Blog with or without website build

Don’t worry about your question, all sort of questions related to WordPress are welcome in this support forum.

Now this can be done in 2 ways.
1) Either you use WordPress.com which is Paid hosted blogging service, where you don’t have to worry about code files, you can select the theme of your choice and you get access to Admin Panel, just select the theme, install plugins if required and add your blogs.
2) You can use self-hosted WordPress i.e. you download the WordPress code file, configure it on server/hosting, install theme(Free or Paid) and add your blogs.

If your intention is just to have desired theme and add pages/posts, WordPress.com will do the trick but it is a Paid service, whereas if you want you can download WordPress Code file from www.ads-software.com and install it and configure it (Only cost would be hosting your website)

And I assume I could do self-hosted Word press (option 2 in your answer) without coding knowledge, e.g. I could install a theme and still do some basic amendments to the theme?

WordPress is very easy to install. Most major hosts have built-in automated systems to install WordPress on your site. Bluehost is one of the more well-known WordPress hosting services. You can get the most basic deal for like $5 a month. A very well respected host.

The most tricky thing for beginners in setting up a site is getting their domain to point to their webspace location. That’s usually a separate operation from installing WordPress on a site. You can also get your domain name through Bluehost. You basically get the nameserver addresses from your host which you enter into the interface for the domain name service. It’s kind of like getting your phone number in the phone book.

Yes, it is possible and is a fairly easy task, you can simply use the default Gutenberg editor of WordPress and that will do the job for you.
