I used filezilla to copy the site to a local directory on my laptop, first time ever. This is the first time I have delved into the files of the site, newby.

I was surprised to see urandom @ 96.6Gb and access_ssl_log.processed @ 71.66Gb. There are some other big log files in excess of 100Mb/900Mb.

How do I manage log files? Can they be deleted and allowed to recreate; I do not have cPanel or Webspace, site is hosted on a Plesc server.

urandom and access_log are not part of WordPress. These are files that your hosting generates. The latter contains, for example, the data from every single access to the website. Normally this should also rotate and therefore not become so large. However, you would have to ask your host’s support team if you have any questions about this; WordPress cannot help you with this.

If you want to copy WordPress alone, you only need to copy the directory (including the files it contains) in which the subdirectories /wp-admin/, /wp-content/ and /wp-includes/ exist. You should also not forget the database.

Incidentally, there are also helpful plugins for such copies so that you don’t have to deal with so many files: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tags/migration/
