I’m trying to use the Special Redirection URL and it’s just not working. I have 4 different user roles, Subscriber, Contributor, Author, and Editor. I’m using the WP roles and not using the s2Member levels. I’ve created Login Welcome Pages for each user role:
    Subscriber Home Page
    Contributor Home Page
    Author Home Page
    Editor Home Page
I’ve set the Special Redirection URL to:
    https://mders.org/%%current_user_role%%-home-page
When I login as a Subscriber, I go to the Subscriber Home Page, as it should.

When I login as an Author, however, I go to the WP-Admin page. I want to go to the Author Home Page. I read that within s2Member any role above a Subscriber is considered a Level 4, so under Page Restrictions, I’ve put the Author Home Page ID in the Level 4 restriction.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Please help!
    Thank you, Gail

Other than for Subscriber, you MUST use the s2Member roles to use these redirections. The reason why Subscriber works is that all s2Member roles are just a type of Subscriber.

That’s actually how s2Member got its name: “Subscriber to Member”.

Hi KTS915, thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Now I understand. If you don’t mind, maybe you can answer a few of my other questions.

My original purpose for using s2Member was because it was the only plugin that I could find that showed the excerpt on restricted content. It is a requirement for our system to show excerpts of hidden content when users search through our site, or even through such engines as Google.

And due to our need to work with an external registration/authentication system (I work for the government), it will cause great complications if I have to start using s2Member levels.
So, assuming I can continue to use s2Member for it’s restriction capabilities, can I use a plugin like Peter’s Login Redirect with s2Member? And if so, how do I allow Peter’s Login Redirect to override s2Member’s URL redirection for users whose role is different than Subscriber (public excluded)?
Any help you can provide if very much appreciated!
    Regards, Gail

KTS915, let me clarify that the requirement to show excerpts is for public searches, not for those that are logged in.

    @gailwingate1,

You should be able to use Peter’s Login Redirect with s2Member for all non-s2Member roles because s2Member does not control them.

In Peter’s Login Redirect you should just be able to select a role, add a login (and, if desired, a logout) URL and then click Add Role Rule. Repeat for each role you want to redirect (but I’d strongly advise against redirecting an administrator).

    I hope that helps!
