• From all the hype, I thought “Gutenberg” was going to give users the ability to create blocks anywhere and rearrange elements to our hearts’ content—a feature we’ve long been asking for. Instead it’s only in the post/page editor, and it’s buggy at best. I didn’t lose any data—always back up, kids!—but the new editor is frustrating to use. Blocks that should be moveable aren’t, such as image blocks. Copying and pasting text results in a weird highlight I can’t get rid of. And the new Twenty Nineteen theme is far from doing more with less plugins; there’s no option to customize colors, except for a slider that you can’t fine tune or add a hexidecimal value.

No good, WordPress. I’ve been a user for over a decade and used to recommend WP to clients bar none. At this point, I can’t recommend.

I know I can use the “Classic” plugin, but I was really excited about this update and hoped I wouldn’t have to.

UPDATE, 12/07/2018: Another issue I’m having, which is a dealbreaker for me, is the editor completely breaking when I add HTML for Amazon affiliate products. The block itself freezes and cannot be edited or deleted. It was only after I entered code mode—which was not easy to find—that I was able to delete the weird “figure” tag WP added, then was able to delete the block itself. (Unfortunately, the product doesn’t display properly at all.) I hope someone from the WP team is reading these reviews and compiling a list of issues that need to be addressed.

Is there anyone from the WP team looking over these issues and either trying to fix any bugs or help users troubleshoot?
