Very handy but not secure at all, despite claims

  • This is a very beautiful and easy to use widget. If it were secure, it would be super-convenient for customers to make reservations immediately and instantly. However it is NOT secure at all.

    The plugin’s FAQ says “Payments across my Widget are secure? Totally, all payments across to Expedia SSL service and all payments are secure.”

    Completely untrue. There is no SSL or encryption on the connection of ANY type. You can tell right in your browser window, and I’ve looked into the iframe and the source is not encrypted either. Their own website is not even encrypted. There is no evidence anywhere that suggests that I should be confident that all my data is not transferred in plain text which is completely dangerous and should NEVER be asked of customers.

    In fact, I’ve never heard of this company, nor do I have any information which I can be confident that they aren’t just outright stealing credit card information through this widget. I have no idea, and they certainly aren’t developing a legitimate ecommerce app with no security.

    I would avoid entering any payment information into this widget at all costs.
