• Hi,

I am using the plugin to offer meetings via web browser (no offer to join via zoom client). The CPU usage is 100% by opening a meeting. And the video/audio begins stuttering and/or A/V is out of sync.

There are more than 100 attendees in this meeting. The video and sound of the attendees are off.

Does anyone have the same problem? Or are there any settings needed to reduce the CPU usage?

    Thx
    Andreas

Is your machine a high powered one ? I haven’t tested with that many participants on my end so i am not sure. I am guessing that current version of webRTC or SDK which is join via web browser was not developed to be used like that.

As an extension of the Zoom browser client, this SDK is intended for implementations where the end user has a low-bandwidth environment, is behind a network firewall, or has restrictions on their machine which would prevent them from installing the Zoom Desktop or Mobile Clients.

Not sure you would be able to tackle this at the the moent. Thanks

I have a “normal” engine, no high end computer.
Is that needed for the host? The more participants the better the computer of the host should be?

The problem appears for some (about 50%) of the participants, not for the host.

Maybe I can solve the main goal in another way: I am planning an online event where I want to offer 20 meetings. The participant should join the meeting how likes. But I don’t to switch from browser to zoom client. I want to stay in the website. Or is there a way to add a agenda with 20 meetings in the zoom client?

    Best,
    Andreas

Andreas, could you provide more of your server specs and when your CPU load hit 100%? Did it hit that mark when you initially launched zoom or after all the attendees joined?

I am hosting a meeting with roughly 104 participants at the beginning of next month using the embed option as well as they requested it specifically for their system design so they could also have other elements on the page at the same time while viewing zoom meeting—a dashboard of sorts.

I also am posting the launch from web browser or launch from app links as well if they experience any issues. But I would love to hear a bit more in depth of a description about your initial problem so maybe we can all figure it out.

@j_3rk it doesn’t mention anything about number of attendees supported at all though—how many attendees have you tested it with and is the performance of your integration of this in your plugin based on server specs and performance? I can’t see why if you have a dedicated server with 4cpus and 8gb ram this being an issue, it’s not that many people. Are you thinking it’s a browser issue?

The high usage of the CPU is already know in the Zoom support. They are working on a solution.

The problem appears, when you use any other task in your browser, maybe a chat system or anything else.

Then I made a test with 4 attendees. The only opened zoom via the browser (with audio and video) and it does not work on all machines. YOu really need a powerful computer.

In sum: We did NOT add this to our customer event. You also have the problem that you have to confirm the captcha und the terms of zoom. Then you need to confirm the audio settings. Means: You have to click three times to join a meeting via web browser. That is not really good. We decided to use only the zoom client. Then you don’t have any problems.

Let me know what you find out.

Yeah, the problem with audio and video is related to windows machines as well as the safari browser. I have reached out to Zoom and they are working on the fix. Works perfect on mac using FF or Chrome. They have no timeline yet, here is the post: https://devforum.zoom.us/t/join-by-computer-audio-not-working/23314/17

As far as high CPU usage Im not seeing it (hopefully wont), I had 7 attendees on my server and my cpu didn’t even move. That being said, thats a small number and I am running a Linode server with dedicated 4 core 2.3 ghz xeon and 8gb ram. I do have the embed in my system on the same page with an embed of another application next to it, but not running any application in a separate window.

Are you referring to being an attendee viewing the meeting seeing high cpu or the actual server CPU usage?

    Thanks for the response!

I had no problem using Zoom via browser.

But lots of the attendees had problems and switched to the Zoom client. I also can confirm that Mac users don’t have the problems. But most of us are using Windows.

The server don’t have any problems. Only the attendees when they join via web browser.
