Very High CPU Usage and Server Load with version 2.84

  • Take at this graph showing the enormous increase in cpu usage and server load after upgrading from WP 2.2 to WordPress 2.84. Nothing changed other than the WP upgrade, the plugins are the same, the theme is the same, etc. This is a dedicated a Quad Xeon dedicated server with 8MB ram, running WP Super Cache, eAccelerator, MySQL query caching, etc.

    Anybody have any ideas why 2.84 causes such high CPU and Server Loads?

    I would greatly appreciate suggestions and ideas on how to get the load back to where it was with version 2.2
