Very neat and effective.

  • Before someone jumps and criticize me, remember, this is the first time I have installed this plugin and I am writing my views within 45 minutes of its first use. I am a person who explores things extensively first and then write the review. However, this plugin is so impressive that I am compelled to report almost immediately.

    Very neat and efficient UI. It makes writing a blog much more fun, taking away the pressure and limits of formatting the way I want to present my article. As a ardent writer, I could not ask for more. Of course there is this never ending ‘wishlist’ and I am sure in future some of those things will feature. Some won’t. It is just a matter of personal likes and preferences.

    I would have given 5 stars, had it not been that little annoyance of buttons/icons scrolling off the screen and inability to have more customization control on configuration of editor UI. Then again, it is just me. Others, should not hold that against the author. Overall, it is a wonderful plugin and I strongly recommend it. I have replaced that on all my blogs and recommended it to all my friends/associates who use WordPress.

    I would like to get back to you about the problems you experienced, so that your experience can be even better.
    Unfortunately, when the number of icons exceeds the place for them on a per row basis, the result is that the page gets stretched to show them. This is something our plugin has no control over, because it has to do with the way the tinymce editor is implemented in WP. The best way to avoid this is to balance the icon load between all 4 rows.

    About your second observation:

    inability to have more customization control on configuration of editor UI

    Would you mind telling us what you mean or give us a few examples so that we could eventually improve the UI?

    I know the limitation of the editor window and how it is constrained due the limited width offered. Of course it sure is a problem for both the developers as well as users like me who would want to have lots of ‘goodies’ enabled on the editor.

    Before I switched to UTMCE I was using one particular plugin, that offered absolute control on how I configure the buttons in the editor. I could practically customize every button, it’s position on the bar, add separators etc. It would be difficult to describe in words. Best is if you look at this plugin, you will understand what I mean.

    Yeah, we are familiar with that plugin. For now, what you can do with UTMCE is move the buttons around between the rows. In our Pro (premium) version, we have a way more elaborate UI. You can find a limited demo here. I say limited because it does not contain all the latest features.
    However, you would be glad to know we will soon introduce a basic Drag and Drop interface in the free version as well. We don’t have an ETA yet because it’s been very busy lately, but it should be sooner than later, ??

    No worries. As I said,that is just one little thing. It did not stop me from switching to UTMCE.

    Whenever that feature becomes available, trust me I will change the rating to 5 stars for sure.

    Hello Josh,

    In this world where everyone is out on a massive mission of fault finding spreading rubbish, finding flaws, few, it at all, take a moment to appreciate something that is truly good, deserve appreciation and spend a few moments to speak about it.

    Have you ever seen (except in movies and TV programs) people actually say ‘I like this’ or ‘I am happy today’. Sadly most people will be ready and willing to dump their bit of sadness onto others.

    Me and my friends/associates, are working on a concept called ‘Happiness Effect’. Write, talk and spread ‘good’ things and hope others will catch on. In our active pursuit for doing this, not the artsy hippy way, we are constantly looking at things. Be it a new game, a new restaurant, a new recipe, a new joke, a random trivial news post … just about anything. Even a good plugin on WordPress plugins library. We find it good and impressive, we share it and talk about it.

    Good effort definitely deserves to be applauded. If not by money, at least speaking nice and spreading the word is a good start.
