While I wasn’t super wild about the default design, I was able to make the modifications I needed, and I really like this plugin for its functionality and what it allows one to do to tweak the design elements.

Unfortunately, I read about the issues people have on WP Engine for this plugin, and another of Ajay’s. This got me wondering about my client’s WordPress-focused host, Media Temple, and whether it was like WP Engine, and sure enough it’s on their disallowed list. (“These plugins increase database load by using inefficient queries, poor caching, or poor scaling on large sites.”) Disappointed that I will have to find something else that probably won’t look as slick for my client. Bummer.

I just found out that my client uses a service on MT that does allow this plugin! Excellent!

Thank you for the review. Unfortunately, there is not much I can do with the issue with WP Engine, Godaddy or similar that block such plugins.

CRP is one of the most efficient Related Posts plugins because it has an aggressive caching system that uses only a single query to retrieve related posts after the first load.

However, mySQL FULLTEXT index isn’t in theory well scalable without innoDB which was only introduced in mySQL v5.6.

So, hopefully if the hosts upgrade to v5.6, things might be better. Until then…

I understand. And I’m very glad I found it for my client.
Wondering if there is a way to limit the number title characters? An example of one that’s a bit too long is on this page:
