All in all, this one is better than any other newsletter I have looked at.

After a brief time using this plugin:

    The good:
? You can create excellent emails. The template builder is very good.
? Good controls for throttling send rate
? You can use Amazon SES to send emails. Cost is 1 cent per 100 emails!

    The bad:
? Can be a big headache with excessive CPU usage if, like me, your site is hosted on Siteground. It actually made them take my site offline a few times until I figured it out. It took an uninstall and reinstall of the plugin to fix it. Which of course meant re-creating all emails and re-loading all lists & subscribers
? Free version limits you to 2000 subscribers, and there is a recurring charge for the pro version that lets you go over 2000. Seems like a one-time charge would be appropriate for just that ability, and a recurring charge would be right for the sending feature.

    Could be improved:
? Let me create and save button and divider styles. Having to repeat the same button styling over and over is inefficient.
? The ability to sort posts by ascending/descending date would be useful in certain cases.
? Documentation needs updating. I wasted time following cron job instructions that only applied to earlier versions.

Thanks for the good feedback. We’ve noted a few things.

    Hi Pedro,

I have been a MailPoet user for over 4 years. Stayed with them even though a fault in their code took down all my sites when I was hosted with Blue a few years ago.

Recently upgraded to version 3, which had been promised for over a year although I see that features have been removed. Soon after upgrading and sending my first email to 400 Subscribers, my present hosting platform, Siteground, advised of excessive INODE usage which would lead to my site being restricted.

Interested in your experiences with Siteground and Mail Poet. I would like to understand what deleting and reinstalling the plugin (vers. 2 or 3) actually achieved and if it was recommended by Mail Poet support.

    Thanks,
    Derek

    Hi Derek

It’s been smooth sailing for me with MailPoet v3 on Siteground since I got things sorted out regarding cpu usage. After reinstalling and starting over cpu usage issues have not resurfaced. It was quite upsetting to find that my site was offline due to MailPoet not getting along with Siteground!

Unfortunately I don’t really remember whether it was Siteground support who recommended uninstalling and reinstalling. I’d advise you go on chat and discuss with them if your cpu usage issues persist. Just make sure you have Newsletter task scheduler (cron) setting to “Visitors to your website” under advanced in settings.

In case you are not aware, you can monitor cpu usage in cpanel. There’s a graph in the cpanel home sidebar.
