Hi, since a few weeks I get 5-10 “visits” when I tweet a link, I think from hacked PC’s (among them XP) mostly associated with Ashburn IP’s (Amazon) but from Spain too. I would like to have these excluded from the stats but couldn’t find a way to do so. Is there any filter for sessions shorter than a few seconds? I switched from server to client but that didn’t make any difference.

    Hi Victor,

a custom add-on could be implemented to exclude / filter “short visits”, however we haven’t received any other request for such functionality. You could filter by IP and see if that helps.

Thanks. I will try the IP exclude, however I fear this will be a lot of work.
BTW: When experimenting I switched back to client-side. This (still) doesn’t work: nothing is logged. I excluded the .js from minification as advised. I use W3 total cache.
BTW2: Although I have excluded bots some bots that are recognized as such are not excluded. For instance 37.187.56.76 says crawl18.lp.007ac9.net . Maybe it’s an idea to have the botfilter behave as a (configurable) short-visit-filter.

Yes, some bots manage to get through the filters, unfortunately. That’s because they use user agent strings that make them look like regular browsers.
