Very simple catalogue

  • I need to build a very simple catalog in wordpress.
    All this needs to provide the user is a list of items, grouped by category. Each item can have multiple images and a set of fields which are all the same for each item. I need a way to offer search by some of the fields.

    I do not want any shopping carts, shipping settings, taxes, payment gateway, or anything of that sort. The items are large items (cars, boats, houses) so these kinds of things are not relevant.

    I’ve had a look at some of the popular plugins and they all are too oriented towards a full blown shopping card.

    What is the best and simplest plugin to satisfy this requirement?

  • jbx, although Shopp is a designed as a “full blown” shopping cart, all that stuff can be disabled so you can use it just as a catalog. To be precise, there are settings that you can simply set as disabled for: the shopping cart (disabled checkout as well), calculating shipping, and calculating taxes.
