Perfect way to protect your content (pages in my case) from public (non-logged in) users. When you protect the page, the menu item won’t even show up if you’re not logged in.

The plugin vendor wrote the above, but I have to agree. Been using it for 3-5 years. Had a problem recently where all the protection was erased, but I don’t know if it was the plugin or something else. I edited it all back in and it’s been working fine since.
