• I am having trouble with the page speed of my site. I ran a test on pingdom and Google Page Speed Insights but I am very inexperienced with fixing the issues with the site that are slowing it down.

I have figured out that it does not seem to be my images as I have decreased their size greatly. Below are the results of my google test:
    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=tonysmasonry.com&tab=desktop

I tried a few different plugins but none seemed to fix the speed issues after testing them again.

Any help as to how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated. Any plugin suggestions that may help fix this would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you in advance.

I would try deactivating all of your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible

Well that google test breaks down what plugins seem to be slowing things down.

But those plugins are a part of visual composer plugin which I cannot remove.

But what confuses me is that I have used these plugins on other sites but I have not had these slow issues.

    Thanks for the response.

Would anyone else have any suggestions of how I can fix this problem?

    Thank you.

It’s very hard to fix your page speed issues. It’s easier to fix the issues that Google has raised in their insights and there are plugins to resolve those. Which plugins have you tried to solve those issues?

    Thanks for the response Andrew.

    I have tried:
? WP minify Fix – that broke the site styles completely
? Zen Cache – did not change any speed results on Google Page Speed
? WP Fastest Cache – did not change any speed results on Google Page Speed

Can you recommend any other plugins that can help with the issues.

Thank you for your help Andrew.

I think if I am able to fix the google test things then that will ultimately fix the speed problems as that is what seems to be causing them.

    I have tried:
? WP Minify Fix – that breaks my site and destroys the css
? WP Fastest Cache – did not seem to work
? ZenCache – did not seem to work

Do you have any other plugins that may work?

    Thanks for your help.

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content

Ignore the “CSS” part of that. To fix the JavaScript issue, try this plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/scripts-to-footerphp/

But it may not work if the Minify plugin broke your site. Let us know if that Scripts to Footer plugin works

    Andrew

Thanks for the suggestion but that broke my site as well.

Any other ideas of what might work?

    Hi,
Have you changed any css code in your theme or somewhere else, if there is an error in the css file, i think it can break things.

Maybe @tmh2k1’s theme is not enqueing JS properly.

Chillmen – I will check that. Do you think that would cause things to run so slow though? Maybe I will try to strip down the css as much as possible.

Andrew – would you know how I can fix that?

    Thanks for the replies guys.

First to explore whether it is the case, that your theme isn’t enqueing its resources properly.. Can you switch to the Twenty Sixteen/ Fifteen theme and see if the plugins work?

Which plugins are you referring to?

Thanks for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

The Scripts to Footer plugin for example, try that.
