Hi, I’ve noticed recently (since the WordPress 6.4 update especially) that the Speed Optimizer plugin is making the post update process take a lot longer than usual. This seems to be primarily due to the auto-purge cache functionality.

With Speed Optimizer enabled, the entire post update process (from clicking the “Update” button to seeing the “Post updated” confirmation) is taking around 8-10 seconds.

With it disabled, it takes around 3-4 seconds, which is more normal.

Note that this seems more extreme on sites with Siteground CDN enabled, which I have. On an identical staging site (which automatically wouldn’t have the CDN enabled) + Speed Optimizer enabled, the post update process takes around 6-7 seconds, shaving off a couple of seconds. Still, with it disabled, this goes down to 2-3 seconds, so there’s still a big speed impact.

Not sure if I’m the only one experiencing this. Can provide a video showing the problem if necessary.

    Hello @dylanhoulihan

I took the time to test the reported issue on my end using a clean WordPress with a default theme and our plugin. I tested both with our CDN and without it and I am not able to see any major delay, still, it is possible that I would need more content on my website for the issue to be noticeable.

To troubleshoot the case further, our team would need direct access to at least a staging copy of the website that experienced the mentioned behavior, for this purpose we would kindly ask you to open a HelpDesk request through the SiteGround Client Area.

We would need as much information as possible to replicate the issue and also an environment where we can conduct the tests with the plugin. If you do not have an active staging website we will create a one and test the functionality there without interrupting the work of the live website.

    Best regards,

Thanks Simeon, I’ve gone ahead and opened a support ticket on Siteground.
