• I have to say I only use the row layout block from this plugin. It’s much better than the core columns and I really love the flexibility. Definitely a must have for WP5.

However the usability is not so great sometimes. I think the problem is more on the Gutenberg side than on the plugin side; so this is why I still give 5 stars, even if I’m not totally happy. It’s sometimes really hard to navigate between columns and blocks and clicking the right spot. Because frames are more or less invisible in the editor, it’s a lot of try and error. And it gets worse with nested blocks. I hope Gutenberg will improve in this regard or that there will be a plugin (or an option in your plugin?) to highlight the structure/frames of blocks inside the row block.

  • Thanks for the review.

Yes we totally agree it’s not easy enough to select between blocks, columns and the row. We are experimenting with different options that could work within Gutenberg. I’ll keep you posted on some options we try.

One thing that Gutenberg now has that can help with this is the breadcrumb block navigation in the top left. It’s not ideal but does get you what you need. Here is a screen shot:

One other thing I should mention, we have a setting to apply “limited margins” in the editor. This setting is something you can turn on and view your pages and turn off without any effect because it only applies css to the editor view it doesn’t affect how anything works on the front it.

Turning this on really doesn’t make navigating throughout a little easier. Something you can try and I would be interested in your feedback.

    Hi Ben,
    thanks for the quick reply!

I didn’t know about both things and the breadcrumb navigation really helps. And the margin setting is also interesting; I think I prefer this, at least it seems I select the correct block more easily.

    Thanks a lot!
