    Hi,

It is not weird. It is normal. 40Mb is a too low limit. We trying just let you know you will get problems running your site with low memory limit and cost just one click to fix it also with our free plugin or one-minute editing by hand your wp-config.php file.

Wordpress run tasks in the background with cron jobs. WordPress can check for updates (also for themes and plugins) for example.

More visitors come to your site, the more memory you spend.
If your site is under brute force attack to guess the password, take a lot of memory.
We developed one free anti-hacker plugin with thousands of users and we know the hackers begin to attack web sites many times the same day you put online. Sometimes they try to login thousands of times by day. Just install and look your dashboard for info about hackers attack.

Sometimes your site is scanned by google and bing, for example. Takes memory when they open all pages to collect info.

Look also your visitor’s logs in cPanel.
Then, many things can take memory in different moments.

We just developed one plugin only to help people to check for memory issues:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-memory/

and this one is to protect anti hackers:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/antihacker/

Both are free as stop bad bots.

Look the rates and you will find a lot of people telling our plugins help them to keep their servers online.

We need support to continue this job because take a lot of time and server resources. Don’t let us a bad review before ear us.

    Cheers,
    Bill
