Hi I’m having a problem with VFB Pro. After i submit a form nothing happens. The user doesn’t get the confirmation message(the form just refreshes) and no email is recieved. However the entry does get saved on wp.

It worked fine before the upgrade to the Pro version…

Also i tried the WP Mail SMTP plugin and the it sends the mail via mail() function normally. How do you configure the VFB Pro to work via mail() function?

Here is the url to one of the site forms: https://www.optika-sentina.si/kontakt/

but it’s the same even if i change the email to some other non-gmail address

Change which email? The sender or the receiver?

You’ve probably run into Google’s increased security checks. You can’t predict which emails will be targeted. You can comply with Google’s rules by using OAuth 2.0 with SMTP.

AFAIK Visual Form Builder supports the wp_mail() function out of the box.

Ok I’ll try with this plugin above.

is it ok if leave the smtp settings empty if i want to use the PHP mail() function?

No. You can’t reliably send from a Gmail account unless you authenticate with Google. That means no PHPMail.

what if i don’t want to use gmail?

    Jason Hendriks

    (@jasonhendriks)

Then yes, you can continue using WP Mail SMTP and leave the smtp settings empty.

That is what i want to do, but the form won’t send notification emails to some adresses(some are gmail, some are not). If test the mail() function in settings i get the the test email. But in VBF Pro i get nothing.

If you’re not configuring an SMTP server yourself, then you’re letting wp_mail/PHPMail choose one for you (probably localhost). Then you’re just guessing at what you can and can not do.

Don’t you have an email address provided by someone with a POP/IMAP/SMTP server?

i do and i tried that too when mail() stopped working but that doesn’t work either.

what is strange is that everything was working fine until i upgraded to the Pro version and migrated the forms. Then it all stopped working.
