• Hi, i’m stumped as to why the video doesn’t autoplay on safari. I am aware of Safari’s restrictions but the other website that I used this plugin on had no problem autoplaying a video background on safari. It’s just on this site that it doesn’t. It works ok on chrome. Here is the link: https://www.devfinasia.com/

    I am also using WPBakery.

    Please help me out.

    Thank you so much!

    Hi dandanthedan,

    Cool site!

I took a look and it seems the .mp4 video that you are currently using doesn’t play nicely with Safari. Possibly it was compressed with a codec that is not supported by Safari. You can see that Safari won’t play this MP4 by going to the direct link:

    [video src="https://www.devfinasia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/compressed-farm-planting-slow.mp4" /]

I would recommend re-compressing this video with a different codec or software to see if that fixes it ??

    Cheers,
    Blake

Appreciate the reply. What codec would say works best on Safari? I tried the .webm version but still the same.

Hi, I uploaded the video to a different server and if you try it on safari this video will play on the direct link:

    [video src="https://dev-devfin-asia-full.pantheonsite.io/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/compressed-farm-planting-slow.mp4" /]

but it still won’t autoplay on safari.
It may not be the video codec after all, it’s already AAC, H.264

    You have any ideas?

    Hi dandanthedan,

I visited your site and the video now played as expected in Safari! Great job.

Are you still experiencing this issue?
