• Hello everybody,

I have a youtube video on my page embedded and the site is soo slow now that hardly ever someone gets’s the video to see. The theme I am using is prepared for an embedded Video and autoplay and I also installed a cache plugin. No change. Pingdom says the video uses most of the loading time. I just don’t know what to do, to change them and speed up the process. Maybe you guys have an idea?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you in advance,
    Jo

  • Hello!

The site isn’t slow, it loads quite fast actually.

The video takes a little bit more to load, indeed; around 3-4 seconds. But that’s pretty normal, since it’s an external request and it takes some time to show, and the video is also a fullscreen hero section, so that’s “a lot” of video to load and display.

I noticed that you’re using lazy load for your images. Perhaps you have lazy load for videos too, which might make it to load slower.

You should contact the theme developers and see what they think – https://helpdesk.unitedthemes.com/

    hi @broseph,

thank you very much for your answer. I got the following reply in the theme developer forum:

the player script in your theme version is deprecated and causing a 401 error which delays the load. What you can try is, visit https://github.com/pupunzi/jquery.mb.YTPlayer/tree/master/dist and download the current version. Inside the dist folder you can find 2 files. Use these 2 files to replace the file on your server located in wp-content/themes/brooklyn/js

I am going to give it a try – a bit sacred but well, life is an adventure, isn’t it. ??
Thank you very much for your time.
    Jo
