Video Embeds Not Working

  • I am having trouble embedding youtube videos. I have the latest 2.9 installed. I have pasted the URL on it’s own line in the visual editor and when it is posted it shows it in plain text. Since this feature has changed incarnations throughout the beta process, I have found several ways that are supposed to work but have changed. I have tried the [embed] tags, the add video from url button, as well as what I think is the currently supported way of pasting the plain text link on it’s own line in the editor.

    Does anyone have any ideas why this is not working for me?

    I discovered the problem, the video did not have the embedding option turned on. Once I enabled embedding of the video from youtube, wordpress correctly pulled it in.

    Thanks for your hint. I ran into the exactly same problem and noticed the video on Youtube I wanted to embed had embedding turned off.

    I’ve found that some times, on some videos them don’t embed at some exact sizes.

    One of my videos had this problem: It embedded if I set the video with on embedding settings to 589 or 691 pixels, but stop embedding if I set it at 590 pixels.

    Seems it was an strange response from the YT oEmbed API. And seems it works with no problems just from today.
