q1- Premium pack offers unlimited video hosting – is that mean there is no limit to the number of videos that can be uploaded?

q2 – is there a provision to add a subtitle or closed captions to the videos in your features

q3 – just wanted to know why there is no information on the jetpack unlimited video hosting online by any users? if it’s so good, why many are choosing vimio? (just curious )

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

q1- Premium pack offers unlimited video hosting – is that mean there is no limit to the number of videos that can be uploaded?

Unlimited means that you can store as many videos as you like and there’s no limit on the total size of all the videos.

Please note that Video hosting works well for files that are 1GB and lower. It may work for files between 1GB and 2GB, but the larger the file, the greater chance for the process to fail. Big files require a consistent and fast network connection. Most networks will timeout before you’re able to upload a file that’s larger than 1.4 GB. We cannot support any files that are larger than 2 GB.

q2 – is there a provision to add a subtitle or closed captions to the videos in your features

It doesn’t, but I know of a workaround to add subtitles to any video on WordPress. Have a look here:

Platforms like Vimeo and YouTube have their own central site and interface where users can interact which each other (like, comment, etc.). It’s more like a social network based on videos. Jetpack Videos, on the other hand, appear on your site only, therefore giving you full control of your content.

    that’s great to know.
    I have on more query.
I will be hosting an online course website wherein multiple instructors will host their videos. is there any way that instructor A uploads videos and instructor B will not be able to see those in the media. that is each instructor has their own folders which is not visible to other instructors.

Currently no, it’s all stored in the same media library.

There r many pugin to Keep User Media Separate on Multi-Author WordPress Sites right. Would that work well to solve this issue ?

No, that won’t work. Although videos will appear in your Media Library the files are hosted in the WordPress.com infrastructure and not on your server.

got that. thank you for the quick response. at least can I make different folders to organise the videos and images?

one more query – the videos will not be able to be downloaded by any software like IDM right? I mean is the videos protected form downloading?

There are some plugins which allow you to do this, we can’t promise that VideoPress will work properly with them, but at the same time I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

the videos will not be able to be downloaded by any software like IDM right? I mean is the videos protected form downloading?

Yes and no. The video player does have a Download option, which you can disable. But, it’s still an embedded .mp4 or .ogg video. Some software may be able to scrape and download it, and anyone can simply view the site’s source for the source video file’s URL. This is true of any embedded video service, including Youtube and Vimeo.
