    Hi,
I have some posts that I’d like to show a youtube video instead of the featured image.

I specified the video url in the correct field, however, when I checked the article in the Facebook Pages app, I did not see any videos.

I checked the article code on Facebook publishing tools, it has the correct header code and has the video in the header. also there are no errors or warnings show.
but the video itself does not show.

    Any Idea why?

    thanks a lot

    Hi,
    Further to the previous,
When I open the publishing toold on Fb, sometimes ared triangle will appear with the following error, then if i edited the article and saved it (Without changing anything), the error will go away, then sometimes it will appear again.

i tried this with 2 articles that has the video in the header.

the point to note is that the video is working on youtube with no problems.

    here is the error code:

General Errors: Could Not Download Video: Video could not be downloaded from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDzOHJ_Q9o4. No Video Detected: It looks like you're trying to upload something that isn't a video or that's corrupt. Please upload a video in a <a href='https://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=218673814818907&ec=1363032#What-formats-of-video-files-can-I-upload?'>supported format</a>. Please check the video URL is correct and loads at the address given.

the video used is working fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDzOHJ_Q9o4

    Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch. I’m afraid Facebook doesn’t allow videos via embed code in the header, it has to be a direct link to a video. So YouTube or Vimeo or any other videos that you embed won’t work, but if you host your own videos somewhere and can link directly to the vide file it will. I presume this is so Facebook can download them and make sure they’re encoded efficiently.

You can read more about what’s allowed in the header on the official docs here.

Hope that helps. All the best.
