Video in post shows up on Facebook thumbnail

We have written a blog post which has then been shared on Facebook. Unfortunately, on Facebook the thumbnail is the featured image, but it has the little play symbol over it, and when clicked on just plays the video from our post, rather than taking the user to our post on our blog. As a result, many people don’t realize it is actually a blog post and believe it’s just a video and don’t bother clicking through via the text beside the thumbnail. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way so just the picture will be the thumbnail, with no video overlay at all?
