Video player embed code showing up in podcast description in iTunes

This is bizarre, because the [jw …] is a shortcode and should not be in the RSS content, which is what PowerPress uses to create the iTunes summary and subtitle. Please email me the version of the JW player you are using, cio [at] rawvoice dot com so I can do some testing to see what is happening.

I was able to duplicate the problem in my sandbox. I then looked at the registered shortcodes and their shortcode [jwplayer] is not registered in WordPress (They are not using the add_shortcode function). Because of this, plugins like PowerPress and JetPack will make calls to strip_shortcodes and the jwplayer shortcode will not get stripped allowing the shortcode to follow through.

I came up with a solution and I emailed it to you, I would forward that to the JW Player developers to implement. I would advise they do implement a solution that does call the add_shortcode, by not registering it they open themselves up to an endless possibility of theme and plugin conflicts.

Just a quick follow-up to say that Angelo went above and beyond to help me with me issue! It turned out to be an error with the JW Player plugin.

Because the jwplayer is not registering the “jwplayer ” shortcode with WordPress, WordPress doesn’t know it should remove the shortcode before other plugins get the page/post content. Nothing you can really do until this is fixed in the jwplayer plugin.
