For some reason, videos placed between text want to distort the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. On the page linked below, I placed the content this way:

    [Text Element]
    [Text Element]

The original video isn’t 4:3, and not all vids are distorted. This happens only in the wider section (the main body).

In case you can’t see it, here’s a screenshot (cropped b/c the page is long).

  • Are you using a plugin that controls responsiveness for videos? That might be affecting it. Also, make sure you check the Style tab for the video and see if the aspect ratio is set to the correct one.

The only plugin controlling the vid responsiveness is Elementor. I did, though, discover something as I reviewed the setup again after reading your reply:

The URL for the video was inserted into the body of the text rather than using the “Video” element (something WP allows users to do).

    For example:
    Text Box Element Contents —

asdf sadf asdfl ljla anasdljhg alkjdsa asdfdsa:

    YOUTUBE-URL

af nsalja daljfdsal a ah hgoblkj blkjdkjfa.

To resolve it, I duplicated the text box, added a video element in between them, placed the video URL in the video element, then deleted the relative text content from each of the two text boxes. Essentially:

    [TEXT BOX ELEMENT]
    [TEXT BOX ELEMENT]

Ok then the way you were doing it before, WP was probably controlling the output, rather than Elementor. The Elementor text editor widget is essentially the same (I might not have all the facts on that, but I think it’s the same or relatively close) as the standard WP editor, so anything used in there will probably react similarly to using WP’s editor, without extra markup added when using Elementor’s video widget.

Anyway, glad you got it figured out!
