Thanks for the extra details. I wonder if the problems could be caused by the virtual machine set up. I’ll try to reproduce on a Windows machine and get back to you.

I was able to reproduce the issue on my end.

I’ve taken note of the problem, but I can’t guarantee that we can fix it soon; Internet Explorer 8 was released on Windows XP 5 years ago, and Microsoft has stopped supporting XP earlier this year. We’re consequently focussing our efforts on newer versions of Internet Explorer.

I wanted to suggest using WordPress’ built-in HTML5 video player instead, but that doesn’t seem to work in IE8 either.

Here is what I tried:

1. Instead of using VideoPress’s default video player, I used WordPress’ core video player by inserting this shortcode into one of my posts:

   [video width="940" mp4="https://videos.videopress.com/a3pTiVok/working-working-kitchen-october-20121_hd.mp4" ogv="https://videos.files.wordpress.com/a3pTiVok/working-working-kitchen-october-20121_fmt1.ogv"]

   As you can see, I built the shortcode to include the 2 formats generated by VideoPress upon upload: .mp4 and .ogv.

While this doesn’t work on my end, if you manage to find a video player that works on IE8, you should be able to use VideoPress files without using the VideoPress player like I did in the post above.

I’m not sure if this has got any bearing on the result, but do you have the HTML5 Shiv script loaded on your site? It’s just a hunch I have, but I could well be wrong…

I should have mentioned this, sorry: I tried with and without the HTML5 Shiv script, it didn’t seem to make any difference.
