After installing the W3 Total Cache Plug in for the first time and completing the set up, when in the wp-admin and I hit “view page” to take me to the site to work on it, the wp-admin bar disappears (as if it kicked me out of wp-admin), but if I click on another page in the site, the admin bar reappears. It seems to be a problem only with the front page.
Any ideas on why this has happened? I uninstalled W3 Total Cache and had to upload a complete site backup, which fortunately I made before installing.

    Hello @seancasey

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
W3 Total Cache does not remove the toolbar for logged-in users. Please make sure that the option “Show Toolbar when viewing site” is enabled in your dashboard Users>Profile:

Also, please make sure that the option: “Don’t cache pages for logged-in users” option is enabled in Perormance>Page Cache, and make sure to save all settings and purge the cache.
    Thanks!

That did not resolve the problem. The plugin breaks the admin toolbar.

You should know I use Polylang and I believe I am losing the admin bar when switching to another language

    Hello @seancasey

    Thank you for the information.
So it appears that there is incompatibility with some other plugin. W3 Total Cache does not break the admin tool bad as it does nothing with the toolbar.
I’ve noticed that you’re not caching the front page?
Have you disabled the option Cache front page in Performance>Page Cache?
Please try to disable the settings in Performance>General settings one by one, save all settings and purge the cache after each setting is disabled, and see which setting might be causing the issue.
    Thanks!

I turned off cache front page just to see if that works and nothing. I can give you access to the wp-admin so you can see what is happening

I don’t think W3 Total Cache is compatible with Polylang, which I am surprised because both are very popular plug ins.

My site is in English, Spanish and Portuguese. English is the default page. The tool bar disappears when I switch to the front page of Spanish and Portuguese, but if I go to a subpage within these languages the admin bar reappears. So it seems to only be affected the front page of the Spanish and Portuguese. Hope this helps you diagnose the problem and help me with a solution. Replacing Polylang is not an option and I really would like to keep W3 Total Cache

    Hello @seancasey

Please do not offer access to your wp-admin in the public forum as this is forbidden by the wp.org rules.
I’ve tested the behavior with the Polylang plugin and I am not seeing the issues you are describing. W3TC and Plylang are compattible
Once again, can you disable the settings in Performance>General settings one by one, save all settings and purge the cache after each setting is disabled, and see which setting might be causing the issue.
YOu also started that you uninstalled W3 Total Cache and had to upload a complete site backup? Does this mean that once W3TC was disabled, the issue persisted?
    Thanks!

I have done as you said and the problem persists. I never had this problem until installed W3TC for the first time yesterday. After installing W3TC and becoming away of this conflict with Polylang, I deactivated the plug in and the problem persisted so there obviously were tentacles of W3TC still on the system affecting things, so I uploaded to a previous version of the site prior to installing W3TC and it was fine. Then, I installed W3TC once again. After around an hour the problem returned. The admin bar disappears when I switch to another language.

    Hello @seancasey

Thank you for the information and once again I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing.
I’ve checked your website more and it appears that you have multiple layers of caching. Can you please confirm if you are using some other caching plugin, CDN, or server-side caching?
    Thanks!

    (@seancasey)

No. Just what I installed with W3TC. I used to have WP Rocket but I removed it before installing W3TC yesterday

    Hello @seancasey

    Thank you for the information.
What makes this issue strange is that once the settings are disabled, and as you stated, you disabled all settings one by one, the issue persists.
Simply activating W3 Total Cache cannot cause issues like this, and if the issue persists once the plugin is disabled, it means that there is another layer of caching somewhere or there is a compatibility issue with some other plugin and I can confirm there are no compatibility issues with W3TC and Polylang.
You may also want to try another browser and see if the issue is still there. Alternatively, I can only offer our Pro support to investigate this issue further in Performance>Support.
    Thanks!
