How did you install WP? Did you use a one click install from fantastico? If you installed via FTP, just reupload the two themes (/classic and /default) from the wp-content/themes/ folder up to your site. That’s all there is to it.
joni someone on support installed it for me and for
WHOO I am willing to learn but I need a teacher but not someone with your attitude. My “attitude”? You sound like what you want is someone to regurgitate whats already been written elsewhere, specifically in the documentation, and the links that have already been provided to you.
Granted, thats not new, but you must know how incredibly frustrating it might be for those of us that take the time to HELP people here to rewrite, repaste, the same stuff over and over again.
IF I wanted to give you an attitude, you would surely know it, trust me.
The fact is that if you want to learn you need to read, and you need to be willing to strike out on your own, and not be afraid or unwilling to click a few links.
Why is THAT the hardest thing for people to grasp? The virtul handholding is tiring.
If you dont want to help why do you even come on here you should just go in your hole and sulk
why are you being a jerk? I wasnt rude to you.
Take your frustration you’re experiencing over your web site out on someone else.
Look at who is being a jerk just go play with yourself and dont bother with my problem I will find someone that is concerned and will help.
I am looking.. I see you.
How about explaining what you think is help, so we can all be clear. You want someone to do the work for you? What?
Youve been told by 2 ppl so far what it is you need to do — youve been provided links that explain how to do it. Whats missing?
On support at your webhost? I’m not clear. If that’s the case, you may want to return to them and ask them to reupload just those theme folders or ask them to show you how to do this yourself (it’s something you really should learn). However, if whoever installed it didn’t install the themes, then, with all due respect, they don’t know what they are doing.
And no one here is being snarky or sarcastic, believe me. (There would be huge singe or scorch marks on the page.) ??
But what bothers me and I’m getting off topic again, is that there seem to be so many people here on this forum that haven’t the first clue about how to manage a web hosting account and here they are befuddled by FTP, .htaccess, etc. You MUST take control of your web site if you have a domain and web space. You MUST learn how to do these things yourself or open your wallet and pay someone to do them for you. It’s just that simple, and so frustrating for people trying to help.
It’s like trying to teach someone to drive a stickshift and they just bought a brand new Ferrari, you know?
So .. if you can tell me what support person or thing installed this for you maybe I can help you sort it out.
See this is the exact thing that gets my hackles up. I posted something on this very thing earlier today in this forum.
It’s VERY frustrating to try to help people because they just aren’t “picking up” what I’m “putting down” and the reason for this is their utter lack of experience with the concept of web hosting space and their domains. As I said before, you have to learn the basics. You have to be able to understand when we tell you something about FTP or .htaccess or permissions or CHMOD or whatever it is.
I can’t speak for anyone else here, but I’ve had my own domains and web space for nearly 10 years. I try not to talk over people’s heads, but I expect some basic knowledge to be present. I expect someone to be able to articulate their problem to me in a way that I can understand without having to ask a dozen questions in return, like pulling teeth.
I’m sure you are frustrated, that makes at least two of us. If you can refrain from namecalling and personal attacks on some very great people here who help out tremendously, I’ll try to help you out.
Your call.
I am sorry I dont know who installed it but I thank you for your help I guess the best thing I can do is have it uninstalled
Or as I said before, go back to them and ask them to either reinstall it OR just reinstall those two missing theme folders. That’s what I’d do.
But whatever blog software you run (unless you use Blogger, WordPress.COM or TypePad, LiveJournal, or any other HOSTED blog tool) you WILL need to acquaint yourself with the basics such as FTP and CHMOD, etc. or you will not be able to install applications, plugins, mods, themes, etc. How much fun will THAT be?
Wait a minute, you just said Support installed it. That’s your web host, right? So .. go back to them and tell them some core files are missing (those two theme folders). And get them to reinstall them. Although, as I said above, every time you want to change your theme or add a plugin, you’ll have to go BACK to them to have them do that OR learn how to do this yourself (and you should ask them to show you how).
I guess the best thing I can do is have it uninstalled
No, the best thing to do Buckshot is learn. I learned my way around this game by reading and studying the Codex. I am still reading and learning. It’s like anything else, it looks intimidating at first but the more you familiarize yourself with it the easier it becomes.
How did you upload all the other content to your site.
there IS content on that domain, static pages, that obviously someone put on there. I found it via Google, so someone knows/knew enough to put up content.
