ViewLevel plugin and RSS readers

  • The ViewLevel plugin (https://www.furbona.org/viewlevel.html) works great, however I’m having problems making it work with RSS newsreader tools. Although I’m logged in as the admin but the newsreader software doesn’t download the private posts. The raw RSS shows the private posts (as I’m logged in and a cookie is set) but the plugin doesn’t list those posts maybe due to some session/cookie incompatibility. BTW, I tried this with three newsreaders: Newsgator, Feedreader and SharpReader.
    Any clues to what the problem could be?

  • Probably because your newsreaders don’t have any concept of cookies. When you log in to WordPress, your browser sets a cookie. A separate newsreader won’t have access to this cookie, and AFAIK, ignore any requests to get/set a cookie.
