• Hi, I’ve inherited a site that’s been using WP Store Locator for quite some time. The API keys were not working in the plugin setting so I recreated both (server and browser) but am stuck on an issue with the browser api. The error code from Google said it was a ReferrerDeniedMapError and when I reached out to Google, I received an email back saying that my application…

In particular,?your application violates Section 3.2.2(b) of the terms, which requires developers to “display all?attribution?that (i) Google provides through the Services (including branding, logos, and copyright and trademark notices); or (ii) is specified in the Maps Service Specific Terms (https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/terms/maps-service-terms/).” In addition, developers are not allowed to “modify, obscure, or delete such?attribution.”

As the map is broken, I’m not able to see if the previous developer had removed the Google branding. Is this an option somewhere in plugin settings I’m missing? Or something I’m missing in the Google Maps Platform? Anyone else had this issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there, thanks for reaching out.

Um, this is a bit tricky because it is a chicken/egg situation. Since you cannot visualize the map you don’t know if it has been tampered to remove the Google branding, but you cannot appeal unless you are sure the map will be approved by Google. This is the first time we are aware of this issue with the browser key, so it could very well be that the previous developer did something that made the plugin non-compliant.

I would start by searching in your active theme’s functions.php file to see if there are any customizations for Wp Store Locator or the map itself. You could also try reinstalling the plugin in case the previous developer did any modifications in the core plugin files themselves.

Please get back and let me kwnow if you find anything out.
    Regards,
