    Hello,

I’m having issues with Woocommerce as of lately – I assume some of the recent updates made these errors occur, because for the last 2 years I never experienced anything similar.

When a user purchases virtual downloadable product X, he sometimes doesn’t get a mail at all, and the times he does get a mail, the download link doesn’t work.

It leads him to the page with an error message (visible also in the URL after redirecting to it), telling him that he needs to be logged in, in order to download his purchased product.

This error message occurs even if the user is 100% logged in in another tab of his browser.

Once logged in, the only place where the customer can actually download his file is within the User Account -> Downloads tab. If he goes to Orders -> Invoice and tries to use the link within that invoice, it again opens up the same error message.

The links in the email and the Downloads tab are different. One has the user email written within it, the other does not (the downloads tab link is shorter).

Within Woo downloads are FORCED and REQUIRE a login. The filename is also UNIQUE per customer.

What can be done to fix this? I replicated this on a brand new staging site, installed Woo, created a random product, made it virtual + downloadable and the same error message and process occurs.

    Help need – ASAP :(!

  • Hello,

I understand the customer are not receiving an email, and that this issue is not consistent. I understand there is an error message telling the customer to log in, in order to download his purchased product.

As a first step, switch the site theme to Storefront temporarily, and then disable all plugins except WooCommerce? Check again to see if the issue persists (You can create a test order, for example),

If the issue is not present at this point, it means a conflict was affecting the site, and you can then switch back your theme to the original one, and then reactivate the rest of the plugins (checking again after each plugin reactivation), until you find the cause of the issue. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Another troubleshooting step, you can check your site email system by installing a plugin like WP Mail Logging, it might show more information about any clue related to emails not being sent correctly.

Let us know how that goes.
