Virtue theme – how to set up a particular style of gallery on my site

I’m using the free Virtue theme on a local host and want to create a Gallery Page containing 7 thumbnail image sliders for 7 different categories (bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) Ideally I’d like to be able to then click on each of those image sliders to open up a portfolio grid page with all of the images for that particular category on it. Is it possible, can you please advise how?

Please note – I don’t want to use sub-menus for the categories from “Gallery” in the primary menu navigation bar – as there are too many of them!
