    Hi – thanks for the plugin;

    I have a question/request regarding visibility options

    I want to display on all pages, but hide from admin

    that arrangement doesn’t seem possible

    Hi @wasanajones,

    Thanks, I hope you like it. Do you want to show the chat in the backend aka WordPress dashboard for all roles but the admin? Like logged in subscribers on all pages backend and front?

    @wasanajones I have been thinking about updating the plugin for some time now. I have an general idea what it should become with the next update. I want to make 2 tabs and one for the frontend settings and one for the backend. Also I want to make it aware of WooCommerce and add extra settings for WooCommerce pages. See the sketch I made below. Would this also offer you would you are wanting?

    Hi – thanks for the comprehensive follow-up.

    I haven’t really dug into all the use case stuff. But I just realized my goof in reading ‘hide for admin’ I took to mean ‘administrators’ I didn’t think about frontend/backend. ha ha

    I appreciate your work on this. I do website hosting using multisite networks so for me having a chat in the admin would be cool to help clients figure out how to do stuff. while a different chat account they monitor on the subsite frontend for their clients. we try to set things so the general public only has frontend access for editing – not going to backend but lots of variables to deal with… might be a big project to develop that, but maybe not. a “two chat” system.

    my issue with the tawk.to widget is that it gets in way when trying to add images using media library and I also have floating ‘back to the top’ buttons that end up behind the widget – I know your plugin isn’t intended to manage that – but it would be nice to be able to just hide the widget temporarily – I poked around settings and their knowledgebase but couldn’t find how to do that.

    thanks

    Hi @wasanajone,

    Thank you also for your comprehensive feedback. I can use this to make it better. It would not be that hard to do what you are describing. Actually, I already have something similar but then it shows the service providers chat in the dashboard and always on top. It should not be hard to adept that code to make it use 2 chats: the clients for the frontside and the service providers chat in the dashboard. I could make a beta test for you to try?

    PS. the back to top part can be solved with css or placing the widget on the other side at the bottom.

    PS. common mistake regarding WordPress and the meaning of admin. When using wp functions like is_admin() it checks for if the page requested is part of the dashboard (backend or admin panel etc) and that’s all. This function does not check the role, only if it’s a page in the wp dash. Be glad that you did not make this mistake like some coders do and thinking that it’s a security check;) haha. Sorry but that’s funny to me.
