• Hey there howdy, I’ve got a client who needs a password-protected page on their site, which I’ve done using the standard WP “visitibility” feature. This password works just fine on OSX in Chrome and Safari. I can’t get it work on multiple machines in Firefox. I cranked up Windows 10 and it’s also not working there in IE, FF or Edge.

I type in the password and it just gives me the page back without moving on.

Give it a try yourself and see how it responds to you:

    page: https://yogafaith.org/getstretched/
    password: SonWorshipper

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • That password is not working for me in either Firefox or Chromium.

Do you get this behavior if you switch to the default theme? Does it still occur if you temporarily disable all plugins?

I am getting this warning in the Console in Chromium:

Mixed Content: The page at ‘https://yogafaith.org/getstretched/’ was loaded over a secure connection, but contains a form that targets an insecure endpoint ‘https://yogafaith.org/thank-you-for-signing-up-for-our-newsletter/’. This

endpoint should be made available over a secure connection.

I doubt if that’s the cause, as I don’t get that in Firefox.

That’s true, but we haven’t even determined if this is theme related yet.

The password protected page function works as expected in a fresh install with my blank theme – issue is theme or plugin conflict and should be directed to theme developer.

Yes, but your site is not on the same server, nor are you running the same plugins, and you haven’t even verified that you are running the same version of Apache, PHP, and MySQL and that they have been configured exactly the same way. No two servers are alike. Please don’t assume. Every server is a snowflake, so what works for you is not guaranteed to work for everybody else.

FWIW, the password protection function arises from WordPress core, and not from themes.

I mean, if you think about it, everybody’s problems in this forum would go away if they just used a fresh install with a default theme.

Sure enough, a plain vanilla WordPress 4.9.7 running Twenty Seventeen theme, no plugins… and the password protect works everywhere I test it.

Now to poke around with the theme we’re using and the plugins until I find the conflict.

I have the same probleme with Twenty Fourteen Theme, if someone find wher is the conflict ?
