• I have created a new draft page and want to make it password protected but the Visiblity option which is set to Public will not do anything when I select Edit to change it to Private.

I have very minimal experience in wordpress so I do not want to change themes/edit code if possible
    Thank you!

Private or password protected? They’re different things.

    Password protected.
I don’t have any option come up at all -it’s on public and when I select EDIT nothing happens.

It works for me, so let’s troubleshoot. This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time.

Ok great- I was able to install and run the health check and will give that a try.
    Appreciate the help!
