• When I click on Visit Site from the dashboard this is the error message I get…

    Directory has no index file.
    Browsing this site or directory without an index file is prohibited.

    If you are the site’s webmaster, you can remedy this problem by creating a default HTML page with one of the following names:

    * index.html
    * index.htm
    * default.htm
    * Default.htm
    * home.html
    * Home.chtml

    NOTE: Filenames are case sensitive, i.e., Home.html is not the same as home.html

    How do I fix this? I am a beginner and I can’t even get started. Please let me know if WordPress is not for beginners.

  • Try adding DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm to the top of an .htaccess file in your WP root folder.

    Unfortunately, I don’t know what that means or how to do that.
    I click on the WordPress link from my host, iPage.com. I haven’t accessed any folders or directories.

    Try asking your hosts for assistance. It’s what you pay them for, after all.
