Visitor IP address.

    Hello –

    We want to have a record of the IP addresses of visitors to our website. By “visitors” I mean anyone or anything (bot, etc.) that comes to the website.

    Would we be able to acquire those IP addresses with this plugin?

    Normally, we would get the IP addresses from access log files available for viewing and downloading from the webhost. However, we are currently using Managed WordPress hosting with GoDaddy, which does not make access log files available for Managed WordPress customers.

    Hi, unfortunately this plugin does not have that option available. Have you tried using Google Analytics?

    Google Analytics does not provide IP addresses.

    We’re thinking of trying https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/clicky-analytics/.

    Two versions, free and paid. The paid version reports IP addresses. Haven’t found out yet whether the free version does.

    Haven’t decided yet whether to try.

    If the free version reports IP addresses, we’ll consider going with that and making a donation for less than the cost of the paid version.

    Another consideration is that one of the author’s Help posts we read indicated that a user has to remove some of the code after installation in order to keep the plugin from sticking a little Clicky Analytics ad on one’s web pages. But it looks like the support is good.

    Hi @ramgllc,
    In general this plugin does not record or keep track of IP addresses but if you enabled the 404 IP detection feature it will actually keep a record of all IP addresses which produce 404 events on your site.
    Similarly it will record the IP addresses in the SPAM prevention feature too.

    You are mistaken. Clicky Analytics, the plugin I linked and referred to in my post above, does, indeed, record and keep track of IP addresses, according to direct communication from the author and from the demo he provides, which I have looked.     Sorry I think there was a slight miscommunication – I was talking about the AIOWPS plugin not the third party plugin you mentioned ??
