I had a message from Google AdSense saying “Grow your AdSense revenue with AMP ads”, so thought it worth trying the AMP plugin.

    It did no go well.

The initial scan said there were incompatibility issues, which the theme developers could not replicate. I set it to “reader” mode and it said there were no compatibility issues.

I then added the required adsense code to the head and body areas of the site, and in AdSense, asked for “AMP auto ads”. It said it would take up to an hour for ads to appear, but several hours later there were still none on mobile.

This corresponded with a drop in AdSense earnings, and a major tank in visitor numbers while the plugin was activated. Once I deactivated visitors returned to a normal level.

    Is this a common issue?

I would not mind trying it again and would be happy to have a lighter mobile version of our site, but as that’s where most of the ad revenues come from, it has to perform.

I have deactivated the plugin in the interim, and as mentioned above, deselected AMP auto ads on Ad Sense.

Yes, we try to re-create your environment using the data you sent but were unable to reproduce the issue, it looks like more of the issue at the Adsense end so it’s a better approach to contact them as they can provide you better guidance.

@robinmnz As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you require any further assistance.

Thanks. I don’t hold out any hope of engaging with the Adsense folks. ??
