• Initially we had a web design company create/set up our site and when they transferred it over to us, it had the visual composer elements. I updated the theme and then the visual composer tools disappeared. I click the visual composer logo and takes me to this link. I can update basic things through the code but not everything.

I tried making a new test page to see if it would work but nothing for the visual composer appears, only with “visual” and “text” view. I was unable to add images or any elements of the visual composer the page, I would get a nonstop spinning symbol.

  • Is Visual Composer “baked” into the first theme? If it is not installed as a plugin that most likely is the case and is licensed for use with the theme your developer customised for you. Some theme dev’s include VC built right into the theme, so when you switch themes you will not be able to use it.

I see the plugin on the plugin page, WPBakery Visual Composer, and has a blue highlight along with a few others. Doesn’t say it needs to be updated or anything.

What do you mean by “baked”? And when you say first theme, you mean the theme before it was updated? So from version 1.6 to 1.7? We haven’t switched themes when the developer gave it to us, only change has been the theme version, 1.6 to 1.7.

Would deactivating it then re-activating it help? Is there a chance that would mess things up?

If it is installad as a plugin, then I suggest asking for support here https://support.wpbakery.com/. Since they are the developers of the plugin they should be able to give you the best support.
