    Hi,

On one of my website, using the Neve theme and using Gutenberg block styles, I have an issue since the latest update of wordpress (5.6). It’s a shop using woocommerce, with quite a lot of plugins, but the issue concerns only one page, with a slider, different kinds of blocks, and displaying an instagram feed with Smash Balloon Instagram Feed plugin.

When I want to edit this page (it’s the homepage), I can’t see the content : I have white blocks. I can just display the code if I switch the edition mode.

I’ve tried to deactive the instagram plugin and that don’t change anything.
Deactivating the Gutenberg plugin allow me to use the visual editor in that page, but that’s not a solution.

What could be wrong and how could I fix that issue ?

    Regards,
    Dom

It sounds like there are lot of variables involved (e.g., theme, plugins, etc.), so it’s gonna be difficult to guess at what the issue might be. Best advice would be to do some basic troubleshooting. I would be glad to provide a guide if it will be useful for you.

    Hi Jeff,

Any help would be very appreciated, thanks.

First I’ve thought it could have come from an SSL issue with mixed contents, but the same website run in a local environment shows the same problem for that page.

Yeah when you have a site with lots of plugins, fancy theme and so forth, it’s gonna require some time and troubleshooting to figure out and resolve any issues. I wish I had a magic ball that revealed all the answers, but alas I do not. So with that said, here is a guide that I wrote that describes different ways to troubleshoot WordPress. Have a look thru; following the steps should yield results in determining the cause of the issue you are experiencing. Let me know if any questions, glad to help anytime.

    Thanks Jeff

Well, I’ve tried to deactivate every other plugin : it didn’t fix the issue. I’ve also tried to use the Twenty-One Theme (with no plugin except Gutenberg) : same problem.

Is there any chance that it could be linked to the recent wordpress core update ?

I don’t know if the “ground up” troubleshooting method is revelant for me since I encounter the problem with one page ?

It could be. I know that a LOT of sites had issues when WP 5.5 was released, due to changes in JavaScript assets like jQuery. They even made a “helper” plugin that is known to solve most issues:

I had to use this plugin for a few moths, since I had trouble with a shipping plugin in France.

So, I’ve tried something else : to work directly with the concerned page.
I’ve created another page, with the same code, and I’ve found out that deleting the slider allows you to edit it with the visual editor.

Also, with the original code, it’s impossible to display the settings tab on the right…

I’ven’t tried online but I guess that if I delete the slider’s code and create a new one through the visual editor, things should be fine.

Still I wish I could understand where is the issue here, but I hope it will help anyone meeting this same strange problem.

Hey @sushi_overdose, do you still need help with this? Just wondering if I can mark as resolved or if there is anything I can do to help.
