In the new version of WP, I’m having trouble focusing on a section. If I click inside a post section to edit it, often the cursor jumps back to the currently focused section (or less commonly to some other random section). Sometimes it focuses, but more often not. The only workaround is to find the section in the TOC side panel and click it there OR to click whichever section is closer and does focus and then use arrow keys to move cursor into the right section. For example, right now I am focused on a Classic Paragraph section, when I click the next adjacent Classic Paragraph section, it won’t go there. But I can no trouble clicking some other Classic Paragraph sections on the page. I also noticed if there is an image in the section, it will focus on the image and then you can click the section.

    Anyone run into this?

I’ve never experienced anything like this (and I’m currently entering a lot of text in the editor). I also just tried to recreate the way you described. It works for me without any problems.

So my guess would be that some plugin or your theme is interfering with something. Deactivate all plugins as a test and switch to a standard theme like TwentyTwentyFour.

Another possible cause could be your browser, possibly due to some add-on that is being used there. Try it in a private browser window without addons or in a completely different browser.

You’re right it seems to have been a plugin. I used to use TinyMCE Advanced for styling. Once I disabled it, everything seems to work ok. Thanks.
