• The problem is that when I switch between the visual and HTML editor it jumbles my code. This problem has never seemed to occur until today. I’m not sure what I’ve done, but I’ve tried multiple things to fix it. I”ve also read many forums on this issue but they were much older versions of WP. I am currently using 3.4.1

    Thanks!

Oh yes it has. This is a known & long-standing issue with the TinyMCE Visual Editor. The “solution” is to choose an editing tab and then stick to it. Switching between tabs will wreck and markup that you have added.

Yes, sorry I should have phrased it that I have never experienced this problem until today. By sticking to an editing tab…do you mean just always using the same one, or is there a way to disable one?

You can disable the rich-text Visual Editor via your Profile page but generally speaking you just need to use the same editor on a per-post/per-page basis. No switching when you edit a given Post or Page.

For example: would it create a problem if I used visual when making post and html when creating pages?

No. It’s all about not switching editors for a specific Page or Post.

    I am using WordPress 3.4.1

I too faced this problem first time today. The image caption that I add in the visual editor is not getting integrated properly in the html editor.

When I make corrections in the html editor and update it, it works fine.

But again when I go to the visual editor and save the post, all the corrections I made in html editor goes for a toss.

As of now, I only saw this problem with image captions.

Found out that this is a theme related issue (that does not affect the old posts).

I’m having the same problem. I make code changes in HTML editor and the pages work fine. But when I switch back to Visual editor, those changes get lost. Why is this?
I’ve noticed it recently in Atuhualpa and Intrepidity. Is this theme specific and if so, how to fix so my clients can edit their page in Visual.
