Visual editor missing in WP 2.1 after few days of installation

Try clearing your browser cache and reloading the pages from scratch.

Failing that, verify that all the WordPress files are still intact on your blog. Maybe your host replaced some of them from a backup or something.

Im having the same exact problem. I just installed the new wp 2.1 and the visual editor worked fine last night. I went to bed then woke up and went to post and now its not working at all.

I even tried in different computer but still I am getting the same problem. It happened to me exactly the same way as Running Spirit has described.

Is anybody having problem to similar to this? If anybody has found a resolution, please let me know

Yes, I’m seeing the same thing. I was using the visual editor on day 1. When I went to show my wife how to use the editor from her machine, all the editor icons were ugly “buttons” and the editor textpane displayed raw HTML (also ugly). She wasn’t impressed.

I’ve verified that all of the files are owned by the correct user. Aside from installing a few new plugins from the default install, I haven’t modified the install.

In case it matters:

Plugins I’m using: Admin Drop Down Menu, Akismet, Bad Behavior, Category Icons, Hello Dolly, PhotoPress, PodPress, Popup Image Gallery, WordPress Backup.

Update: I verified that my machine can see the visual editor, my wife’s cannot. We’re both using FireFox 2.0 on Mac OS X.

I’ve cleared her cache, toggled http pipelining, and reloaded the page. Nothing triggers the visual editor to appear in her browser.

update2: I’m a n00b. My wife’s “user profile” didn’t have the “Use visual editor when writing” set. And mine was.

Hi burnsfamily, where is that option ‘Use Visual editor when writing’? I don’t see an option like that under Options -> Writing.
